KATIE WRAY SCHON is an author and illustrator who loves to make beautiful books. Books and art have always been her favorite things, and she couldn’t be happier that she gets to combine them as a career. Katie creates lyrical picture books full of imaginative illustrations and phrases you want to read aloud again and again. Besides picture books, Katie enjoys reading middle grade and would adore the chance to make cover and interior illustrations for a great story. Her debut picture book, Painting Wonder: How Pauline Baynes Illustrated the Worlds of C. S. Lewis & J.R.R. Tolkien, was published by Waxwing Books in 2025 and was a Kirkus Starred Review & Best Indie Books of 2025 Selection, an IBPA gold medal winner, Christianity Today’s Award of Merit selection for 2025, and shortlist finalist for the Reading the West Awards. Katie also wrote and illustrated God’s Gift of Guardian Angels for Little Golden Books in 2026, and has a biography of Anna Sewell (author of Black Beauty) forthcoming with Waxwing Books in 2027. When she’s not writing and illustrating, Katie loves to go on outdoor adventures with her husband and three kids, play guitar and sing with friends, and wait hopefully for things to grow in her backyard garden.
