Steve Moors

steve_moors_photoSTEVE MOORS was raised in an industrial town in the northwest of England, where, as a teen, he loved to paint and played in rock bands. He studied documentary photography in university and soon found himself in London, shooting portraits of celebrities including Little Richard, Bertrice Dalle and Bob Hoskins. Steve later moved to Israel, where he continued to be very active in the arts—working as an art director for many Israeli high-tech companies, exhibiting his paintings in galleries around the country, and playing guitar with some of Israel’s top musicians. In 2000, he moved to New York and decided to focus full-time on illustration. Initially creating editorial illustrations for publications such as Rolling Stone, Time, The New York Times and Harvard Business Review, Steve later developed a passion for creating children’s books after his own two children were born. He considers these two disciplines to be like a two-wheeled bicycle, with each one creatively supporting the other. In addition to working on his own projects, he is the illustrator for Julie Gassman’s Saved by the Boats: The Heroic Sea Evacuation of  September 11 (Capstone). Steve lives in Manhattan with his wife, two kids and their three-legged dog. You can visit him online at
